Vespel ® polyimide shapes are manufactured only by DuPont. Plavis ® polyimide shapes are manufactured only by Daelim. Plavis ® and Vespel ® polyimides are some of the highest performing engineering plastics currently available. They will not melt and vespel ® can operate continuously from cryogenic temperatures to 550°F (288°C), with excursions to 900°F (482°C). Polyimide parts consistently exhibit superior performance in a variety of applications requiring low wear and long life in severe environments.
Vespel and Plavis properties include excellent temperature resistance, high wear resistance (especially bearing grades), dimensional stability, radiation resistance, extremely low outgassing, and good machinability. Plavis ® and Vespel ® polyimides are typically used to manufacture rotary seal rings, thrust washers and discs, bushings, plungers, wear strips, and thermal and electrical insulators.
Plavis ® is available in a variety of shapes and sizes, including Plavis sheets or plaques and Plavis rods of various thicknesses and diameters. Plavis ® is manufactured as unfilled (Plavis N), graphite-filled bearing (Plavis GF15, Plavis G40), and lubricant-filled (Plavis MS) grades. See our datasheet or call us for more information!
Vespel ® is available in a variety of shapes and sizes, including Vespel sheets or plaques, Vespel discs, Vespel rods and Vespel tubes of various thicknesses and diameters. Vespel ® is manufactured as unfilled (Vespel SP-1), bearing (Vespel SP-21, Vespel SP-22, Vespel SP-211), lubricant-filled (Vespel SP-3), and other specialty grades.
